Remembrance Day observed on Sunday 10th November
Remembrance Day, which marks the anniversary of the Armistice which ended World War I, was commemorated on Sunday 10 November at the War Memorial, in Curepipe. A wreath-laying ceremony was held in front of the Memorial, preceded by the observance of the two minutes' silence. The ceremony aims at remembering those who gave their lives during the Great War. The Acting President of the Republic, Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory and the Prime Minister, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, were present at the ceremony, amongst other personalities.
Monday November 11, 2019, also known as Armistice Day, marks 101 years since the end of the First World War. The solemn day pays tribute to the heroism of the Unknown Soldiers who were engaged in the War.
