Experience 5G on my.t mobile

Mauritius Telecom is the first operator to deploy 5G in Mauritius. Our customers can experience this technological breakthrough in our my.t 5G Experience Zones:

  • Ebene Cybercity
  • University of Mauritius
  • La City Trianon
  • Bagatelle Mall.

More regions coming soon. Do check our website for updates.

You must first register on experience5g.myt.mu

To be able to experience 5G, you also need:

a. A 5G compatible smartphone
b. A my.t 5G SIM (USIM)
c. An active unlimited mobile data pack
d. To be in a my.t 5G Experience Zone

You can check if your SIM is compatible or not when registering for 5G on experience5G.myt.mu or you can call us on 8900. In case you are still using an old 3G SIM, we will swap it for a 5G ready SIM for free.

During this experiencing phase, you can use the following unlimited mobile data packs:

 Prepay data packs

 Postpay data packs

 24H No Limit Data

 Postpay 2000*

 Weekly Unlimited

 Postpay 100

 Monthly Unlimited

 Postpay 500

 3-Month Unlimited

Hotspot 1TB Unlimited

 * Postpay customers:

We recommend using Postpay 2000 as with 5G speed, the amount of data used can be significantly higher compared to 4G. If you have Postpay 500 or Postpay 1000, your volume allowance may be used up within hours.

Samsung users

Whether you use 4G or 5G to download a 10GB film, you’ll use the same amount of data. But because 5G gives you a faster connection, you might find it easier to download more films and therefore use more data.

Postpay customers:

We recommend using Postpay 2000 as with 5G speed, the amount of data used can be significantly higher compared to 4G. If you have Postpay 500 or Postpay 1000, your volume allowance may be used up within hours.

5G Technology

5G is the fifth generation of mobile network technology. It takes mobile data connectivity to the next level, increases speed and reduces latency. Connecting people, devices, machines and virtually everything, 5G will transform the way we live, work and play.

Tests carried out in my.t 5G Experience Zones at Ebene Cybercity, University of Mauritius, La City Trianon and Bagatelle Mall have shown that 5G is around 10 times faster than 4G. Average speeds can range from 200Mbps to 700Mbps and peak speeds can reach up to 1Gbps.

Speeds may vary depending on devices, location and other environmental factors.

  • Superfast data connection for smoother downloads and seamless streaming
  • Connect multiple devices without compromising network quality even in busy places
  • Increased responsiveness with low latency

5G isn't replacing 4G any time soon. In fact, they will coexist and work together. 5G capable phones can actually use both 4G and 5G technology.

5G Devices

For now, the following smartphones are 5G ready:

  • iPhone 12/13/14
  • Samsung A53
  • Huawei P40 Pro & Mate 30 Pro

View list.

Other 5G compatible devices will be supported progressively on our network. Do check our website for updates.

During this experiencing phase, we are also working with other phone manufacturers to ensure their 5G devices will eventually run smoothly on our 5G network. You can check your device compatibility on experience5G.myt.mu.

Miscellaneous

There may be different reasons for that:

  1. If you have not registered for 5G on experience5g.myt.mu, you will not get 5G speed.
  2. If you on Prepay or Postpay, you may have exceeded your daily volume allowance of your mobile data pack.
  3. If you are not subscribed to any unlimited mobile data pack and you are surfing the internet using Pay As You Go (PAYG), you will not have access to 5G. We recommend that you buy an unlimited data pack.
  4. You may be in a zone with a low coverage or saturated with many users or within a building where indoor coverage is poor.
  5. There could be a technical issue with your device.
